Ricci was the eldest of four kids born to Sarah Murdoch and Ralph Ricci in Santa Monica, California. Her mother was an Ford Agency model in the 1960s and then became a real estate agent. Her father was a lawyer, who also worked as a drug counsellor, primal scream therapy, and gymnastics instructor. Ricci claimed she believed that her Italian origins were the result due to her last name. Within four or five generations one Italian man and woman were married to Irish women. The sons of the couple were all born. The Irish married more women and had more children. Ricci relocated into Montclair from Italy with her parents. The school she attended was Montclair High School as well as Montclair High School. She also attended Professional Children's School, New York City.
